Why blogging?
The idea for my website & blog really started to take shape when I started dating my {now} husband back in the spring of 2008. At that point, I decided to leave my job designing hospitals and healthcare facilities and start my own design firm. I was researching and trying to create a business model that I could follow and love. My husband is a realtor and my dad is a builder, so naturally we all brainstormed and thought it would be a great idea to bring design online. I spent a considerable amount of time exploring this idea and came up with an extensive game plan. I took a little time planning our wedding, while my idea sat on the back burner. Once tied the knot, I grabbed a hold of my idea and ran with it.
Are you a professional interior designer?
Yes, why yes I am. I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree in Interior Design from the prestigious Ringling College of Art & Design. I have had over 6 years experience in high end residential, hospitality, commercial, boutique and healthcare design. In addition to writing this blog, I offer e-design services & full interior design services locally in Sarasota {and the surrounding areas}.
Why interior design?
I was an extremely creative child… it was a rare day if my parents didn’t see me with scissors in hand, cutting & gluing, drawing, painting and coloring. In addition to being creatively in tune, pretty much all of the men in my family are tile installers and my dad is a builder. I grew up on job sites… it is in my blood. I knew from an early age I would do something creative… I thought about going into the fashion industry, but I loved interior design and I had a passion for it.
What kind of camera do we use to shoot our images?
I used a Fuji Film Fine Pix S2000HD when I first started blogging. The FinePix S2000HD is a compact and lightweight 10-megapixel camera with an incredible 15x optical zoom lens and HD movie recording/output. I just recently switched over to a Canon t3i… I absolutely love shooting with it and the pictures come out incredible!

Where did you and your Mr. meet?
I had just moved back from my hometown of Richmond, Virginia to Sarasota, Florida and started a new church back in the spring of 2008. I met Kevin the second week I attended the college/singles bible study. He later called one of the girl’s and got my number… He called and said he needed an interior designer and had a few questions. Those few questions turned into a few hour conversation and an invite to his house for a “design consult” and dinner with a bunch of his friends that were coming over. I got there and there wasn’t a single friend over… not even one, but there was a meal being made and the table set up on the pool lanai. After that, we hung out frequently for about 2 weeks and that was it, we were inseparable. The rest is history

Do you have any kids/pets?
No kids just yet… {we are working on building a family soon}. Our pets are our kids for now! We have a Shiatsu named Bentley, who came with me to our marriage as a package deal and a cat named Tebow, who was a birthday gift for Kevin and happens to have seven toes on each paw. We fell in love with his paws and his fur color, since it happened to match my dog and my beloved striped wall in the living room. {I warned you I have matching issues}.
Does your home always look like the cover of a magazine?
I am a clean freak by nature and so is Kevin, which works out quite nicely. When we first got married, I was a bit of a super duper clean freak, now I just maintain! Our house is our home, the place we make memories… a mess every now and then is totally acceptable!
