We got Comforted

We did get comforted, but it happens to be a new comforter that made it happen!

Here is the crazy story:

Back in July, then again in September and October we went on a few trips (Virginia, New York and Virginia again), some for fun and some to say see you later. Anyways, we had someone over to house/pet sit for us because Bentley {Boo Mouve} and Tebow {Teebs} are too cute and sweet to be left in a kennel.  So after our last trip in October, Kevin and I talked about having our comforter dry cleaned since we hadn’t done that yet and we had already been married a year {and although we wash our sheets every week, we don’t know the rules about the comforter}. We left it in the hands of a nearby dry cleaner {that we had never used} and it came back to us with the stuffing all bunched in the middle and all the corners “floppy”. So, I did what anyone would do, I took it back. So, they re-did it and sent it home. It was worse. So, I sent it back. They re-did it again. After this it was worse. So… we had a few unpleasant conversations with the dry cleaner {who mentioned they didn’t need our business and didn’t recognize us as valued customers} about why the ruined a brand new {just got when we were first married} comforter.

See a walk through of our master bedroom {before this episode}!

After no help from them, and a few tears later {from me}, my loving Husband called Liz Claiborne Home. He made friends with the gal {Danielle} and she went on to say that the previous manufacturer of comforters had been let go because they had problems with quality. She instructed us to send it back to New York and they would cover the cost of shipping and reimburse us for the comforter {$150}.

And they did. Liz Claiborne Home= love

I had been thinking about how ‘dark’ our bedroom had gotten with all of the brown anyways {plus our lovely kitty loves our bed}! So much to my delight, I got to go comforter shopping again! Although I had a newly discovered love for Liz Claiborne {since they did the right thing}, I just couldn’t find anything that tickled my fancy for our bedroom. So, on I went!

I loved all of these {especially the 1st one}:

 1. Z Gallerie

2. West Elm

3. Bed Bath and Beyond

But ended up running through TJ Maxx a few days ago and came across something that made my heart go pitter-patter! I am a fan of all things white and aqua AND definitely paisley and at only $79.99, it had me at hello!

I thought it seriously couldn’t get any better than that; I spotted two very large Euro Pillows that had light tan and white stripes. LOVE for only $20 each!

And so they came home with me… all of them… and landed on our bed.

I love them, just not loving our wall anymore. It worked for our other comforter because it was so plain. Now… it is working against our Paisley pattern! I am thinking about going for a rich taupe color. Or maybe more stripes? Thinking…. Thinking…

I really want to build off this new pattern and “feel”…

I am loving these naturals…

I will keep you updated on the happenings with our back wall. In the meantime, I also picked up this precious Princess frame. I had been looking since October 22 for a picture frame with the word princess on it. I wanted needed it to put a picture of the Princess in it. I found one and it is simple and sweet… and perfect!

This is the Princess, the one and the only. She lives in my heart and resides in heaven {where I will see her again… hence the see you later mentioned earlier… it wasn’t a final goodbye}.

Love her! The frame keeps moving around our house because I love it so much and I want to see it in the ‘perfect place’.

So, there is my little “in with the new” story! I am so excited about the new comforter because it really gives new direction for our bedroom… more of a romantic cottage feel! What do you think? Do you like any of the taupe colors? DO TELL.

P.S. Stop by and check out the Valentine’s Decor post!

Hey Linds! I say go with #1, but paint the whole room. It will still look light and beachy but more classy, especially with this elegant pattern on the bed (it’s gorgeous). Make sure your ceiling is super white, and we always paint the ceilings glossy and eggshell on the walls because the light bounces around more freely.
Looking forward to seeing your choice!

I’m loving the change. See, you can make lemonade out of lemons! I am a big fan of gray on the walls, but I’m not sure that would go with your carpets and certainly not with the brown accents. Can you leave the stripes white and paint the turquoise with #2 (#1 is too yellow for my tastes)? If the stripes don’t work after that you can always paint over them for a solid wall. And I’m going to disagree with Kathy, I started to paint our ceilings with colors and am loving the look. It’s nothing drastic, but when I look up in my office and see the palest seafoam green (and I mean palest) it’s just such a lovely contract to the crown molding.
