The Date Jar

It’s Valentine’s Day…. What we are doing? Working in the office together!

We plan on doing something fun tonight, but yes… in the meantime, we are working the day away! I thought it might be fun to chat about date’s {hey… we are trying to be festive}. Sundays are usually ‘our day’ where we spend quality time together and enjoy a date…

Usually Sunday morning sounds a bit like this:

Kevin: Morning ‘Mouve’ {Don’t ask… we call each other Mouve}

Me: Hi Baby… is there coffee?

Kevin: Yep, all you have to do is push the button.

Me: Yes! What do you want to do today?

Kevin: I don’t care, what do you want to do today?

Me: Oh, I don’t know… you pick

Kevin: Want to go play tennis or go for a walk

Me: Nah.

Kevin: OK, where do you want to go.

Me: I don’t care.

Kevin: OK. I can’t think of anything else.

Me: Me Neither.

And so on and so on and on and on…

{Actually, a lot of Friday nights sound similar}

I know you guys have to do that too sometimes… come on… be honest! We enjoy being with each other but sometimes we waste time deciding what to do.

Well, I came up with a plan. No more wasting time when it is “quality time day”. Nope.

Here’s what I came up with. Date Tickets & a Date Jar.

I grabbed my sweetie & we spent some time coming up with local, inexpensive dates we can do on the fly. We still do other kinds of dates… but these are for the days that we can’t think of anything and don’t have something special planned. So instead of those “Wanna just go to Jason’s Deli, again” moments, the tickets have fun, creative and original things to do together!  I created our tickets in Photoshop and wha-la!!!

I took the apothecary jar from the Valentine’s Display {the M&M’s were pretty well gone anyways} and decided to use it as our Date Ticket Jar. I made a cute tag and tied it to the jar with twine…

The rules:

– You can only pull one ticket out at a time

– You can’t say no to the ticket unless it isn’t weather permitting {etc.}

– You have to do exactly what it says… no revisions!

– When you think of a new idea… add it to the ticket jar

– Take the ‘used’ ticket a put it in a safe place and re-add it to the jar after a few months!

– Have fun!

Here’s a sneak peak at just a few of the tickets I made… {I have tons}

Cute right? We are both pretty excited about this new & fun idea. It is going to be spontaneous and is absolutely going to save us from wasting valuable time going back & forth about what to do & where to go! I am thinking I may laminate each one so we can save them and recycle them after a few months!

    What a great idea, I love this! I will have to try this with my hubby, we have the same problem deciding what to do sometimes.

    LOVE this idea! We suffer from the” what do you want to do tonight” plague as well. Your tickets are cute to boot!
