DIY: Yarn Spring Wreath

It’s March and being the fact we have already been enchanted by the spring weather {here anyways}, I felt like it was time for a fun, new spring wreath!Plus, March is National Craft Month… it’s true!

Anyways, last year, I made a simple spring wreath for the front door and another wreath for the inside, but this year a little something bolder and brighter seemed to take the ticket. I am crazy about yarn wreath’s {especially since I made my first yarn wreath during the holiday season}. I really wanted to get playful with this wreath and boy did I ever…

DIY: Yarn Spring Wreath

Cute right? I love it and I may be a bit obsessed about making these for awhile… {I might even add them to my new shop when the site launches with the graphic prints, photography prints & other home decor items}.

I thought you might want to make one {or two} yourself. Here’s the whole Design Story….

I ran over to Michael’s the other day and grabbed some supplies…

Here’s what you’ll need for this budget friendly wreath:

Inexpensive Foam Wreath

Yarn

Stick {I grabbed mine from our yard}

A bird {mine was pulled from another wreath}

Felt {I already had this}

Hot Glue Gun {Already had this too}

This wreath was really easy to make and only took me an afternoon from start to finish. I popped in a girly movie and sat with some coffee and got it done yesterday! It was fun getting playful with this one…

First, I took a small nail and tacked my first piece of yarn to secure it to the foam wreath to start the wrapping process. {You can also use hot glue.. it works either way}.

Then the wrapping began… keep in mind the bigger the wreath, the more time it takes to wrap it!

I hot glued the end of the each section and started the next with a hot glue gun dab as well…

I decided to use both yellow and green, so I had to divide the wreath and make sure the sections were going to be even.

Here’s the wreath all wrapped up…

Now for to glam it up a bit…

Next, I grabbed a limb from a tree out back…{true story} and wrapped it up too…

I also made some flowers out of felt by cutting a fun curvy circle and then cutting a spiral out of it. Then, I formed the flowers and hot glued them to keep the in tact.

Then I played with the accessories for a bit and made sure I liked where they were positioned before I hot glued each one in place. I also added the bird last and he isn’t glued… I like the fact that he has two wire pieces that I use to attach and detach whenever I want to use him somewhere else! You know… since he has already called another wreath home, I didn’t want to glue him in case I needed him to move!!

    OMG, love this wreath. I recently did a yarn wreath that took me forever to wrap but when I was done, I was in love. I love the bird and stick. So sweet!!! I needed inspiration because I made a spring sign and knew I needed a spring wreath to go with it. So, I love this. Thank you for sharing.
