Fresh Picks: November 2011

Happy November! Can you believe the holidays are right around the corner?

As usual, this post of monthly favorites includes the home & beauty editions with items we love, want and just bought. We love spotlighting items that have interested us throughout the month and showcasing them for you guys to check out! We also really love hearing what you guys are loving these days!

Also on the blog on the homeopage’s “Thought of the Day”… 25 Days of Thankfulness”… Kevin and I are going to share things we are thankful for in celebration of Thanksgiving and the Holidays…

Let’s get this month’s display of favorites going…

Here’s the Home Edition Breakdown:

1. I am a huge fan of capiz shells, especially since our home is beach inspired! I love the idea of these white and gold capiz shell chargers from Pier 1 for a Thanksgiving tablescape & dinner party. Add some metallic or white plates to these with golds, silvers & bronze to the table for some sparkle!

2. Kevin and I made it through Ikea this weekend in literally less than an hour {we had dinner plans downtown and we were in a huge hurry). On our run through (literally), Kevin and I spotted these gray nightstands and loved them. We aren’t sure if they are perfect for our bedroom (the shape anyways), but the gray could be a fun addition to our room.

3. Every holiday season, Kevin and I like to add more blankets to the living room and bedrooms for extra comfort. I am in a major gray mode (can’t you tell), so  I incorporated this fun, thick and gray blanket from West Elm to our living room.

4. If you are like us, you have candles going all the time! I love votives for the holiday season because they flicker and shine through the metallic glass holders. I was browsing through West Elm and found a grouping of metallic, mercury glass and sparkly votive holders that would be perfect for a Thanksgiving tablescape and for Christmas decor.

5. Napkin rings always add sparkly and personality to a Thanksgiving tablescape. I love these brass Pumpkin-shaped napkin rings from Bed Bath & Beyond, they will add a great autumnal look to your table setting.

6. November is that in-between time for season decorating, Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is almost here, but you secretly are ready to pull the Christmas decorations out. I like the idea of sprinkling a few “Christmas-y” items throughout the home during this time. It gives your home a little sparkle even before the tree comes out. These glittered glass pinecones from Z Gallerie are perfect for a bowl, buffet or coffee table accent.

Next up, the Beauty Edition…

Here’s the Beauty Edition Breakdown:

1. Chevron and Zig Zags are all the trend these days… I was walking through Old Navy the other day and found this fabulous zig zag scarg and chevron blouse. Adorable or what? The shirt is a must-have in my book!

2. Juicy perfume is a staple in my closet. I have and love all of the fragrances, but Viva La Juicy is becoming my all time favorite. You can pick it up at Juicy, Target, & other department stores. It’s a really girly and flirty scent!

3. Kevin’s aunt just recently became a Mary Kay Consultant, so I had a small party with just family for her to come and showcase the products. My sister and I bought the special, a travel roll up bag with the skin care line, the foundation & primer, satin hands set, makeup remover, and lotions. It’s the best makeup and skincare product line I have ever used… it really sells itself! If you don’t already have a Mary Kay consultant, I can share mine! My face has skin has never looked so great!

That wraps up this month’s favorites on our end, but what about you guys? Have any favorite home decor, beauty or even season decor items?? DO TELL.

I LOVE that gray throw from West Elm. Too bad it wasn’t “Made in America”. This Diane Sawyer report made me a little more conscious about where my goods come from. I am remodeling an entire house right now, and it’s not the easiest trying to find goods made in America. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_YPidwfylM

This post is like you raided my head, home and closet! From the home picks, I love Capiz shells too, I have a capiz chandelier in my bedroom along with 2 capiz chargers as wall art. I also own those exact votive holders from west elm. To top it off, I am also in a major gray mood lately and I love throws. From the fashion picks, I own that Old Navy chevron top in green, Viva la juicy is also my favorite of all the juicy perfumes that I own and I have that same Mary Kay roll bag. Love it!
