Guest Blog: Paisley, Plaid & Read

Are you ready for some scenic and fabulous inspiration? Please welcome our guest, Julie from Paisley, Plaid & Read. She is also an interior designer, so don’t forget to stop by and check out her exquisite portfolio {after you read the post, of course}!

The Ultimate Anniversary Gift

It is a honor to guest blog for fellow interior designer and Blogger Lindsay @Adesignstory so she can have some quality “Family time” with her grandma (& relatives)…

When I was thinking about my blog topic I started to think about my Grandma her love of Arizona! My grandparents moved to Sun City, AZ from Detroit, MI. When visitors would come her way in the winter she loved to take them to all the amazing and beautiful sights Arizona has to offer….

Wrigley Mansion, Camelback Mountain, Old town Scottsdale, and incredible Sedona.

So in the spirit of Wedding Anniversary’s and Grandmas here is the Historical Wrigley Mansion in Phoenix, AZ . The mansion was built in 1929 by William Wrigley as a 50th Wedding anniversary gift for his wife. Maybe this will be an inspiration for Kevin’s 50th anniversary gift to you Lindsay, only 49 more to go (-:

It was the couples “Winter Cottage.”

It was the largest private residence in the state of Arizona until the 1960″s. The structure is a combination of architectural styles including Spanish Colonial Revival, California Monterey, and Mediterranean.

The contrast of the white stucco clay tile exterior walls, paired with the cobalt blue decorative rails, tiles and accents makes me think about Blue & White china.

The Wrigley Mansion was appropriately named ” La Colina Solana “- The Sunny Hill.

It offers dramatic views of camelback mountain, another favorite spot of my Grandmas!

Finally, a few stunning shots of a city my Grandma loved to share with visitors, Sedona. The contrast of red rocks, blue sky, and fresh air was always wonderful to me on my visits, sometimes we would even see colorful hot air balloons floating by…

Thank you Lindsay for the opportunity to guest blog, I hope you have a wonderful time this weekend with your Grandma! – Julie, paisleyplaidandread.com.

Thank you so much Julie, your post was both thoughtful and inspiring! I hope Kevin get a hint from this post for our 50th for sure!! Thanks again! So what about you guys? Do you have a place that’s near and dear to your heart that evokes inspiration and memories? DO TELL! Oh, and don’t forget to stop by Julie’s blog for more design, inspiration and ideas!
