Have you all heard of the new online publication called Rue Magazine? Well, let me get you introduced!
Remember last week when I mentioned we were headed to New York to attend the Nate Berkus show? In addition to the Nate Show (post coming) and the fabulous HGTV lunch (catch the post here), I received an invitation to the Rue Magazine launch at the New York Design Center…
Here is the invite…
Exciting, right?
Rue Magazine is a design magazine that is all about inspiration and showcasing it!
So, let’s recap… Monday I arrived in NYC, Headed out to the HGTV Luncheon …
What I didn’t know was while I was enjoying every last minute at HGTV, my Fabulous Mom and oh so Fantastic Husband were gallivanting New York City pre-shopping for my Rue Magazine Cocktail Attire for that evening. I didn’t get the invite until we were already in route to NYC… so I didn’t bring cocktail attire… And no… it wasn’t on purpose!
So, when I walked out of the lunch I was welcomed by my Mom and Kevin who escorted me to Rockefeller Center to sit for a bit and grab a bite to eat (yes HGTV was a luncheon… but I am allergic to Gluten so I ate just a little). Plus, I was exhausted and needed a second to relax!
Since they had pre-shopped for me, we made a dash and shopped until we I dropped! My mom picked out my B-E-A-UTIFUL Jewelry and clutch purse and my husband picked out my outfit. That’s right the ladies in the store were in awe of just how stylish my husband can be! I felt like a queen in the dressing room, with my husband, mom and three ladies helped me select the best outfit! The store gave me top treatment as if I was a celebrity getting ready for the red carpet. I am not going to lie, it felt nice!
When all was picked out and I was standing in line, my husband offered to buy me an additional skirt JUST FOR FUN. GOD LOVE HIM!! He kept saying… “We got to get you ready for the ball”. Isn’t he just the greatest? Next, we made a bee line to the Nine West store and in a flash I had fantastic shoes to wear!
Here’s my outfit…
Dress from Express
Jacket from Express
Necklace & Earrings From Express
Clutch Purse from Express
Shoes from Nine West
Next, you aren’t going to believe this… with no time left to return to our hotel room to get ready… I changed in the McDonald’s bathroom in Time Square. Yes. I DID! I went in looking like my normal self, and walked out looking like I was ready for a ball cocktail party! I felt like a million dollars.
We hailed a cab… and I was on my way! We arrived at the New York Design Center for the party just in time! I kissed my husband, waved to my mom and walked in. {Side Note: Has anyone ever seen Four Christmas’s? Well, when I walked in I said out loud to myself “I am going to rock the top off this b****”. Except, I just said B, since I don’t cuss. Anyways, Vince Vaughn says that when he is walking on the stage to do a performance… trust me it is so funny.}
I mingled with some other fabulous bloggers (like Rhoda from Southern Hospitality… I finally met her and she is just as sweet in person)!
I also really enjoyed chatting with Katie from the Design Apprentice… She was delightful!
I also met HGTV Design Stars… (Michael, Emily Henderson & Dan) P.S. Dan and his wife are so nice! Check out Dan’s Furniture Line here.
Eddie Ross (who happens to be great friends with Jason Champion, who I work with)… he is fabulous…
check out his blog!
And finally Woodson & Rummerfield, who I have been dying to meet forever… they were simply stunning! I actually ran into them right before I walked in to the party… I kept thinking they are so glamorous and why do they look fo familiar. About 3o minutes into the party it hit me like a ton of bricks! They are THE Woodson and Rummelfield. Oh My Gosh. So of course I had to introduce myself with them, exhange business cards and take some photos. They are quite lovely…
You should have seen her gloves and stockings… TO DIE FOR. In case you aren’t familiar with Woodson and Rummerfield, they are interior designers and they also own a boutique full of beautiful wallpaper, lighting, furniture and more. Go and check them out.. click here.
I even met Michelle from The Associated Press, who just so happen to email me and mention she might be interested in writing a story about A Design Story. Love that!
The party was located in the Century Furniture showroom… I loved their new pieces… GORGEOUS. I loved using some of their pieces in past projects.
I stayed networking until the last people were heading out. I walked out and was greeted by my beaming Husband standing there holding a beautiful red rose for me. I AM SO IN LOVE WITH HIM. He is truly the Man of My Dreams. My sweet Mom and Husband had spent nearly all day running around getting me to my destinations, shopping for me and waiting on a corner for me to do my “thang” at the party. They are the best!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Rue Magazine launch and meeting the lovely people who operate this beautiful publication. I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for the magazine! Go and check them out… click here.
A BIG THANK YOU to Rue for the Invite!

Lindsay, you looking so the part at Rue! I had only packed for two events, both day time…and didn’t even think to shop for an outfit…of course if Mr. Maison Decor had done that instead of napping, it would have been divine! I loved your romantic tale of this adventure.
