Fresh Picks: July 2011

It’s July already?!?! Time is flying by and so is summer!! I have been hard at work with e-decor designs, website planning, summer plans, our rehab house & more…

I have BIG plans to show you all of the above items soon… in the meantime, it is that time again! Time for another monthly favorites installment. This month’s favorite picks resemble the summer season. I decided to break up my favorites into 2 categories this month: Home & Beauty. My monthly fresh picks posts are one of my favorites to write! I enjoy fishing out what I am digging and hearing back what you guys love too!

So let’s begin with the home edition first…

Here’s the breakdown.

1. I love navy blue, red & white for the summer. I think these fun melamine platesfrom Target are perfect for barbeque’s & picnics!

2. We recently picked up a tomato plant from Bonnie Plants to try out before we plant an entire garden. It started blossoming with flowers, then two tomatoes started to form. Now they are getting huge and this week they started turning red… I have a blast watering the pot daily and watching it grow… kind of a fun summer project!

3. I love to throw in fun summer print & patterned pillows in our living room to bring in the season. I love this whale pillow by West Elm. Pair it with some red or even yellow pillows to make it pop!

4. I am a big fan of watercolors {& watercolor patterns}. I used to paint all the time in college & I am looking to start again soon!! I I spotted Laura Trevey’s work awhile back through her blog… I love her crab painting for this season… perfect for a splash of summer!

5. Colorful side tables are all the rage these days. Many DIY’ers are spray painting their own tables fun colors to add interest & character to their spaces. I love this blue side table from CB2, it’s a bright shade and would work for a living room or a nightstand in a bedroom.

6. I love sea scented candles for the summer {and anytime- I live in Florida in a beach town, I can get away with these scents all year}. My favorite candle ever- Sea & Sand by Yankee. It was a wedding gift and I love it so much, it has become a necessity. {I burn candles daily- it’s an obsession}.

7. This Cuisine Art Coffeepot happens to be the newest addition to our kitchen. My old coffee pot died and I debated on white vs. stainless for like 4 days {all the while I was running to dunkin doughnuts for coffee twice daily}.  I finally made a decision to by the white one because it is perfect for our white & crisp theme in the kitchen we have and will go perfect for the kitchen we plan on having in our next place! I love this new coffee pot, my coffee tastes better and is much hotter! Yay!

Next up, our first Beauty Edition…

Here’s the Breakdown:

1. Jane Iredale foundation, pressed powder & hydration spray tops my all time favorite as far as makeup goes. This mineral based makeup is light, airy and I have never had dry skin, breakouts or felt oily in the 2 years since using it {I have been using it since our wedding}. Its well worth the price and my makeup looks natural and airbrushed on {never caked}. I recommend it to anyone & everyone!

2. I recently bought a sunglasses necklace {costume jewelry} from Forever 21 at a $4.80 price tag. I snagged it for a fun & cheap accessory for the summer. I have had tons of compliments on it so I thought it was worthy of the blog!

3. Victoria Secret recently had their semi-annual sale, I had a gift card still waiting to be used, so I ventured out and bought two of their aloha all over mists for the summer. I am a huge fan of island & flirty scents for the summer and the Aloha Wild & Breezy Mist & the Pink with a splash ‘Charming & Fun’ scents are perfect {I grabbed both}.

4. I love, love, love the Bath & Body Works foaming soaps… I recently picked up the Strawberry scent for the summer. They are anti-bacterial & they don’t dry your hands out. I love them because they remind me of my sweet Memaw {who always had these at her house}.

5. Is their anything better than great lip gloss for the summer? I love the look of gloss vs. matte lip stick for the spring & summer seasons… they look more natural! My favorites are the Bath & Body Works Gloss Tubes & the Clinique Full Potential Gloss.

6. Bright nail polish is a big trend this season and I have following suit. I have been taking the time to paint my nails a ton this season and my favorite shade thus far: hot pink, coral/orange & purple all from Essie!

So, that pretty much wraps up this month’s fresh picks from my end… but what do you all love lately? Barbecue & patio décor? New shades? Come on & dish it below…

  • Miss Lilah Chapel danced beautifully in her very first dance recital! I enjoyed every second and might have shed a few tears! She stepped out on stage and starting waving at me, pointing telling everyone I was her mommy and saying hi! The music came on and I was watching this beautiful girl I had prayed and dreamt about twirl around. I was instantly overcome with emotion and gratitude!
