As most of you know, back on this day, tons of bloggers joined in what we were proudly calling “Nate Day”.
The Moggit Girls put together a huge movement in blog world… we were to write posts about Nate Berkus to see if we could get the producers attention. Nate Berkus now has his own show and since we all LOVE Nate, we wanted to show support!
Little did we know the producers loved it and so did Nate!!
Here’s a quick summary of my invite experience:
The post happened back in June, and I never heard anything about it over the summer. Until two short weeks ago. All day long I kept seeing people on twitter saying how the got invited to the show (he only picked some of the bloggers… not all)… so I figured I wasn’t invited. On the way to church that night, I mentioned to Kevin that I must not have gotten the invite. AND THEN THE FIREWORKS BEGAN TO IGNITE. See, Kevin is my business guru… I am the designer & creator. Little did I know he had gotten an email sent to his email account for A Design Story (kevin@adesignstory.com) earlier that day and he “forgot to tell me”. Yep, I was officially invited! {Enter me Dancing with Joy}.
After Monday’s Lunch with HGTV and The Rue MagazineLaunch Party, Tuesday we headed into the city for the Nate Show!
Kevin, my Mom and I jumped in a cab and went over to the CBS Studios. We stood in the VIP Line with the other bloggers who were invited to the show. I got to meet Stephanie from the Brooklyn Limestone and then the infamous Moggits Girls showed up, we hugged, they met my family and we chatted about the exciting opportunity we were about to embark on! (P.S. the Moggit Girls and I really hit it off… they are fabulous ladies!)
Once we walked through their doors, we were greeted by their super nice employees, all making sure we were comfortable and excited! The audience was separated into three different groups for the hour wait where they prepped us for the show. In that hour wait, all the bloggers is our room stood up introduced ourselves and our blog. It was fabulous to hear from everyone and meet other new faces!
Then, the time came and we walked to the studio… which looks FANTASTIC!
Kevin, my Mom and I had fairly good seats… I could have sat anywhere and been happy! The producer got us ready for the show and then in walks Dena. She made the show come alive, literally. Her job was to make us clap, laugh and stand up for Nate! In between segments, she told jokes and played games with us. She is fantastic! I truly enjoyed every second of her funny comments and laughs. Dena has a blog too… check hers out at One Funny Mother!
Nate finally came out in all his fabulousness. The show was broken up into three segments:
– Emily Henderson (from Design Star) re-designed a home for a military couple
– Christian (from Project Runway) who I LOVE showed a woman seeking a job how to dress to impress!
– Nate visits the audience
After the show was taped, Nate came back out and did a Q & A with the audience. It was really great to get his perspective on design, blogs and trying to keep up your own interior design firm in this fluid economy. Nate is charming and full of great ideas!
Now… I got to have a photo op with him too….
Just Kidding… (Tee Hee Hee)
When all was said and done, a few of the bloggers gathered around outside for our last chats in NYC. I met some great people and I am looking forward to lasting friendshipsin blogosphere!
Last, we met up with my Dad who flew in to join us for a few days of Vacation in the Big Apple!
A Huge Thank You goes out to Nate & His Team for the invite and hospitality!
P.S. I am pretty sure our episode airs tomorrow (Thursday).
