As an interior designer and realtor, Kevin and I answer questions on an everyday basis…{about color, furniture, floor plans, contracts, houses & the list goes on & on}. But this week, we wanted to take some time out of the first year blogiversary festivity to answer a bunch of non-décor & real estate related questions… actually some of these questions came in the way of emails from you all and some are just for fun!
Let’s get this partay started…
Q: What is something you can’t let yourself {or your spouse} get rid of from your childhood or past? -{Stephanie}
K: Anything & everything Florida Gators {in defense, I am an alumni} So that would be these pillows {above} I used to have on my bed before I met Linnie. We keep them in the garage- sad right?
L: Not sad. They need to be ditched. There weren’t have any sports teams at my college {Ringling College of Art & Design}, so I hold onto every interior design project and all my art supplies… even though I haven’t touched my watercolor & acrylic paints, charcoals & pastels since then.
Q: Since you share an office, does the other ever get on your nerves? -{Tracie}
L: Well, kind of. Kev talks extremely loud on the phone… so I have to walk out if my cell rings. Sometimes, I have to read the same sentence twice…. You get the point. Ultimately, we have fun most days… All 4 of us work together {most days Bentley and Tebow are in here too}
K: The dog barks on occasion, Tebow wants to work with me and there are times I need a sanctuary with no interruption. We make it work… we are a team.
Q: If you ever won the lottery, what are some things you would do?
K: Well, we don’t play the lottery {it’s a poor man’s tax}But if we magically were given the money, I would buy a nice home, pay off any debt we have left, payoff both of our parents houses
L: I wouldn’t buy a mansion necessarily… but I would buy a house on the water in Sarasota and maybe a townhome in the Fan in Richmond {Hey, home is where the heart is… I love it here but I love it back home}. Also, my dream car is a Range Rover. I would also help family and be a blessing to those around us.
Q: Your home always seems so clean & perfect in all of your photos, is it always that way in ‘real life’? -{Sheri}
K: Lindsay is a total clean freak + I am a clutter freak. Together= Clean & Clutter Free Freaks. Sometimes, I don’t see the “dirty” she sees… I only see clutter if it is there. She sees shoes at the door & suddenly the house feels dirty {totally joking}. I actually like the she likes to clean and keep our home nice.
L: Most of the time our home is picture perfect. I will say I have relaxed a little {not because I wanted to, because the blog and company have kept me really busy lately}. If I have said it once, I have said it a million times… I love a super clean home, it makes me feel happy, sane and on top of things. Plus, when someone happens to ‘drop’ by, you are in good shape!
Q: What is the one thing that you always have the other do, because you detest the task that much?
K: Laundry. I don’t know what to do… there’s a ball involved and color coordination… too much and I am afraid I will mess our clothes up.
L: Taking the garbage out. It’s gross and I don’t like it at all.
We actually read this book when we were engaged called, Saving Our Marriage Before it Starts and we completed the workbook {his and hers} and went over expectations when it comes to the roles… it was a good idea!!
Q: Do you both clean… who does what? -{Candice}
L: Well, I usually clean the bathrooms & kitchen, dust, do the laundry & most times I vacuum & mop… sometimes Kev ‘volunteers’ to help me because my back doesn’t like when I vacuum & mop because I get way too into it!
K: I am the dish guy. I also help fold laundry & put it away. Like I said before, I am a clutter-free guy so I ‘try’ and straighten up before Lindsay wakes up. I also help with the vacuuming and mopping.
Q: Who is the cook around there? Any favorite dishes?
{Taken by my cellphone}
K: Lindsay does all the dinner cooking {I am usually in the kitchen so I help from time to time}… My favorite dishes are Turkey burgers, spaghetti, chicken in the crock pot and taco night.
L: I do dinner, Kev does the dishes. When it comes to Saturday & Sunday breakfast… that’s all Kevin. He makes a mean breakfast… he flips those gluten free {Mickey Mouse} pancakes like it is no one’s business.
Q: Do you eat good, organic and gluten free all the time.
{Credit}
L: Well, I have to eat gluten free, so by nature I eat pretty good. I eat tons of fruit & veggies. Although, I am on a Honey Rice Chex treat kick {yeah, instead of rice crispy treats, I do it with Rice Chex… totally divine and addicting}. When we I make dinner, everything is gluten free unless I make Kevin a separate side when we have crock pot chicken… like stuffing. Also, as far as organic goes… we eat organic & cage free meat & eggs, organic veggies {most of the time}. It is more expensive, but it taste better, doesn’t have wheat {yes, some meats have wheat injected into them} and is all around better for you.
K: I try to eat really well. I eat better than I use to when I was single because all I ever ate was chicken on the George Foreman and rice. Lindsay and her mom are excellent cooks and if we aren’t eating here, her mom cooks and it is SO GOOD. I eat what Lindsay eats {unless we go out or eat at her family’s house}. I do have a sweet tooth though & I love a double stuffed oreo.
Q: How do you both stay so fit? -{Katie}
L: I have to eat Gluten Free. Well, that hasn’t helped my stick figure-ness, but I have always been thin… it’s in my genetics I guess. {And Yes, I do crave ‘real’ donuts and can’t have them}
K: I go to the gym and we eat mostly gluten free. HAHA
Q: Who is the saver {budget guru} and who is the spender? – {Kevin… like my Kevin}
K: Lindsay= spender, Kevin= saver. {She does know her prices and can spot a deal a mile away}
L: Kevin is the ‘tight wad’ {hehehe} and I am the buyer {yes, I call myself the buyer}. Ok, I am totally not a shopaholic, but I love fashion {makeup, clothes, jewelry, shoes, purses & home décor} like the next gal… I can’t help it… I inherited the ‘purse & makeup loving gene’ from my Memaw}. I do stick to what Mr. Budget asks {most times- hey just like our house, I am a work in progress}.
Q: Do you two ever disagree on design decisions? -{Jenn}
K: I give her full range {within the budget}
L: Kevin does give me full range and trust my talent & ability. On occasion, he is skeptic about my ‘vision’, but is always pleasantly surprised. L={Like the stripes in the living room… I knew it was going to rock our world when it was done…. And you know it still does}.
Q: Would you ever leave Sarasota?
{Photos by Me}
K: I love to travel… I have moved and came right back, it is beautiful here.
L: I have moved back & forth from here to Richmond several times. I love it here and it is home now… but I can’t help loving Richmond too. So, if God called us somewhere I would go {but my family would have to be called too}.
Q: Do your neighbors know who you are & what you do?
L: Our neighbors on one side: the girl won’t even look @ us and her hubby is nice. The other neighbor is super nice and is actually a client of Kevin’s. I am sure they think we are crazy when we are out spray painting & such 😉
K: Well, around Christmas my neighbor calls me Clark W. Griswold because I enjoy having a little ‘fun’ with the lights. She is a client of mine and really nice!
Q: What do you do when you have a bad day? -{Nicole}
K: We have bad days like everyone else. It usually results from outside sources so we focus on us, have a snack, watch a movie or go on a bike ride or walk.
L: Usually it involves stress for sure. We fire ourselves on a monthly basis. Then we realize we love what we do and are glad we own our own businesses and then we hire ourselves back.
Q: What do watch on TV, other than your favorite real estate & décor shows on HGTV? -{Jessie}
{Credit}
K: Well, our schedule is slammed on Tuesdays… our schedule looks like this:
M- The Bachelor {Lindsay makes me watch this}
T- One Tree Hill {another Lindsay Fave}, Parenthood & Teen Mom {yet another Lindsay favorite}
TH- Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice
Then the occasional Fox News & ESPN- Although, when it’s college football season, it is on.
L: Well, I can’t help it… I have watched Teen Mom from the beginning and same with One Tree Hill. We do also watch Say Yes to the Dress {Once a Bride, Always a Bride haha}, Orange County Choppers & Fox News.
K: We also watch Everybody Loves Raymond, Friends {it comes on at 11pm}, 24- I have all the seasons & King of Queens.
Q: What silly quirks do each of you have that drive the other bananas? – {Linda}
K: Well, I know what she is going to say: I chew weird. Back to her quirks though… she can’t get enough decorative pillows and she leaves all the lights on in the house.
{Insert Slurping Noise Here}
L: He is right. He chews weird on occasion… it is more like a slurp. I get how you can slurp soup… but how do you manage to slurp a sandwich??
K: It tastes better that way 😉
P.S. These quirks are silly in the grand scheme of things and we laugh about them…
Q: What are a few essentials key to a successful marriage {in your opinion}?
K: Open Communication, Trust, Understanding of Roles & Selflessness
L: Honesty, Compassion, Servant-Hood & Devotion
Q: Lindsay, you always look adorable in your videos & photos… where do you shop? -{Beth}
L: That is too sweet! I try to email every reader back who has asked where I got a shirt {or whatever}.
But I will list my favorite places just for kicks & giggles:
– Target
– Express
-Gap
– American Eagle
– Marshalls
-TJ Maxx
-Forever 21
– Charlotte Russe
– Dillard’s
– Nordstrom’s
I think that should do it 😉
Q: What is your favorite thing about blogging?
K: I get to watch my bride do what she loves, while watching her passion grow even more!
L: Well, I love it! I have met some really fantastic people {both bloggers & readers}, been invited to some fantastic places {Nate Show, HGTV & Rue Launch}, been able to help readers with design dilemmas & design some really great rooms for great people through e-décor!
Q: Have any dorky videos we have never seen before?
L: Why yes, yes we do. Here’s one we dug up from the Honeymoom file…
2nd Week of Honeymoom: Cancun, Mexico {1st Week was at Atlantis, Bahamas} – Kevin going down the “Toilet Bowl Slide”

Have any more questions? See, we are totally dorks… told ya so!
Please do! As my blog ‘moves up’, I always want to be accessible to everyone! I think it is really important for you all to know the ‘real us’ outside of interior design, real estate and this thing we call the blog. So, have a question… seriously, ask away!
P.S. Last day to sign up for the giveaway!
